3 Ways to Reset your Career Direction
Mar 09, 2022 12:01 pm
Dear Wonderful Woman,
How are you doing?
I hope you're well.
Recently I relaunched my profile on LinkedIn. It's some that I do periodically when the work that or my coaching niche changes. I'm no longer afraid to re-cast myself or re-introduce myself as I change direction. In the past this would fill me with fear and self-judgement. Now it's a pretty painless process and my focus is on being really clear about my new career direction and what I am doing now.
I've also been speaking with women recently and setting a new or different career direction has been coming up a lot. So I wanted to share 3 tips on how to re-set and change your career direction:
1 Recognise where you are today is not where you'll be in the future
We often get stuck with how we see ourselves, myself included in our career, we feel strongly that we are "a this" and can't see ourselves or the pathway to being "a that", what we desire. I urge to see and be aware of where you are now, but simply to believe that you're not "there yet", with "the that you want to be".
2 Get Clear on your Career Values
Your career values are the anchors and your core beliefs around the work that you find fulfilling and the values that you have in relation to kind of work you want to and the kind of companies that you're willing to work for. Do some research and find some prompts to get clear on what these are for you. Feel free to take Career Clarity Quiz if you're stuck on which way to go next in your career.
3 Take Action on gaining the Knowledge & Skills you need
Skills and knowledge are something that we should always be seeking to be actively gain more of! With a view to a different career direction, take action to talk the people that are doing your dream job find out what skills you need and then find a course or way to practice those skills as you transition to your new role.
And finally, I'm excited to be launching the Be Your No.1 Black Woman and Women of Colour Career Cheerleader of the year Award. I am looking for sponsors and nominations. Please submit your nomination: HERE Hit reply with "Career Cheerleader Awards" if you'd like more info about nominating yourself or someone that you know.
Warm Regards,
