Are you proud of your career story?

Hi Wonderful Woman,

I hope you're doing well.

Last week, I was asked to give a talk to young people about career resilience. It got me thinking about my career story. Have you ever had a moment when you were not comfortable with your career story? When you quit a job, when you made a mistake at work or you think of the educational attainment you did not achieve.

I've been in all of those situations. You are definitely not alone. Those moments are not moments that you should seek to erase from your career story. As painful as they maybe, you will have come to a point where you've made a decision, learned something and learnt more about yourself. Instead I would urge you to think about what realisation did you come to as result of that discomfort? You realised that you were not the leader of your career. You decided to follow your own career path. You realised that the educational path you were on did not align with the way that you learn best. You took action to find a course that blends your learning style and pushes you to learn new skills. (Whether that's self-tuition, class-room learning or online tutorials. There are so many ways to learn!)

This week, I invite you to be proud of your career story! Your journey is unique and has many more new paths to take, so enjoy the ride. If you're not enjoying the ride, plan to get in a new vehicle and to take a different journey.

To help you with this journey, I am sharing with you 2 recent videos. The first asks you to commit to building your confidence for yourself and your community. The Confidence Oath helps you to find focus and to make that promise to yourself. What's your confidence promise to yourself? Make one up with your own words and commit to it. I trust it will be just what you need.

The second video is the vivacious Lorlett Hudson the first guest on Building your Growth Mindset. She shared with us a known truth, "we've got to face pain" to get to the transformation that you seek. She boldly told us that you should take action and get the help you need to make it happen! It was an inspirational interview where you'll get to gain the benefit of her 20 years as a leadership coach.
