Yesterday I watched a replay of a free webinar. I was excited to watch it because it had been recommended to me by another coach in the industry who I trust. So, I watched and it and found it to be helpful.
I received an automated email that invited me to "Please submit your questions or comments". I believed this to be a genuine offer. I then followed the instructions to submit a question.
The reply email came back not answering my question but asking me if I had signed up to be part of the programme he was selling. When I replied, "No". The conversation changed. It informed me that paid members of the community or people that sign up to the programme will get their questions answered.
I was very surprised at this response. I didn't believe the offer to have been outlined with strings. I believed it be a good faith offer to nurture. I found his sales technique disingenuous. I would have found his offer much clearer if he had stated this up front.
So I was triggered!
I slept on it and a powerful lesson for me downloaded into my brain this morning. And that was follow-up is important and so is selling with integrity. It also prompted me to take action and to follow up after my recent Masterclass. I made a offer similar to his, but the difference being if anyone asks I question, I'll share my answer and not ask them to sign-up to become a client first!
