If you're tired as a Woman in the Workplace, I hear & See You - Let's change ourselves!

Dear Wonderful Woman,
How are you doing?
I hope you're well.
Last week I on LinkedIn I shared a post which I was a little bit afraid to share. You can check out that post: HERE
To my surprise and relief, there was an outpouring of support and commentary about Black Women and all Women in the workplace and the challenges that we must navigate. This morning I was also on a call where a Senior Black Professional Woman reached out to me and told "She was tired" and she needed some help with strategising, planning her next career move and working on up-levelling her mindset.
I wanted to say to all women in the workplace who are tired, I see you and I hear you!
I'd like to share these 3 tips on protecting your peace as a Woman in the Workplace:
1 Saying "No" is empowering for you & allows you to look forward to the "Yesses that serve you and your career"
We as women, have a hard time saying, "No", myself included. Here's the thing though, we have to condition ourselves to think of ourselves as a priority, to give ourselves the space to focus and to commit to where we want to be in our career.
2 Managing the signs of sickness is not something to let reach a crisis point
Yes Ladies, I am going to be the first one to put my hand up to say I have learnt the hard way that ignoring my Burnout feelings and triggers only leads to Burnout! Similarly ignoring signs of sickness and "keeping calm and carrying on", does not allow the body to heal, it just prolongs the sickness. Make the choice today to listen to your body and take time off when you're sick.
3 Getting an external perspective & taking action to get accountability for what you want in your career
Ladies, we can only do so much to progress our career's. It's more than just your action that is going to get you to where you want to be. It's who you know, it's how you practice growing and what you do to keep progressing beyond your comfort zone. Simply find a mentor, coach or accountability buddy and share your goals and dreams. Don't do your journey alone because you don't have too!
Warm Regards,
Ekua
