Taking care of You and your Mental Health
Oct 20, 2021 4:01 pm
Dear Wonderful Woman,
How are you today?
I'm doing well.
Usually I start my emails with the phrase, "I hope you're doing well". Because it's mental health awareness month, I'd like us all to take a moment to check in with ourselves to find out, how are you truly feeling today? It's so easy to give yourself "tinned" responses, when it would be better to acknowledge how you truly feel, as not to create an emotional blockage.
An emotional blockage is when our brain prevents us from feeling emotions that we otherwise might feel, as a means to protect us if we're feeling overwhelmed, or have negative or unpleasant feelings. I find that sometimes when working with clients who are enduring long-job hunting journey's, that sometimes when they lose motivation, and lack the spark with applying and interviewing, they have an unresolved emotional issue that resulted in this search that they have not dealt with. Once we talk about it, they have an opportunity to reflect and process it, they report that something shifts and they are able to go about job-hunting with a different energy.
Today, I want to remind you that taking care of your mental health, and well-being is something that is non-negotiable. That only when you're pouring from a full cup, can you be your best in your career and in your life.
This month theme for my webinar is the true investments, you need to make in order to build a thriving startup. Some of the women that I work with on career transitions, are considering building startups or businesses, but don't know where to start. The webinar is not about the traditional elements of what it takes to build a successful startup, although we will touch on those aspects. It's about making those that wish to undertake this journey, know that mental health and mindset are key in this journey.
I'd like to share 2 tips for supporting good mental health and finish by inviting you to join the webinar on 27th Oct, 7-8PM UK time, The 5 Most Surprising and Important Investments for your Startup. If you'd like the signup details please reply with "Thriving Startup". So check out the mental health tips below:
1 Be Physically Active
Exercise has so many benefits! You don't need me to tell, you, but I'm going to anyway. Run, walk, cycle, dance, the main thing is get up and move your body!
2 Connection with people!
We are social beings! Resist the temptation to withdraw and be still. I have to remind myself of that too! Connect with friends, family, colleagues and those that help you to thrive mentally and physically.
I'm going to finish by inviting you to check out my guide to building a thriving startup in a wholistic way.
