The Mindset you need to lead yourself
Aug 26, 2020 7:50 pm
Hello Wonderful Woman,
This is the getting back into the groove newsletter! Last week I went on a lovely holiday to Wales, UK. I hope you've taken some time to rest during August. When I was thinking about a topic for the newsletter this week, I thought about my experience climbing Mount Snowdon. ⛰️
I did not lead myself up that mountain. I put my trust and faith in my Husband to lead me to the summit of the mountain. In this instance I believe that it was good to have someone to motivate me and lead me to achieve my goal. (There were moments when I didn't think I was going to make it and we would have to turn back.😱)
However, I want you to consider if you feel that someone other than you is leading your career or your life? It is easy to be led by the thoughts and views of others. How easy is it to stand tall and lean into your own career path or ambition?
You see, I had to come to my own realisation that in the past when it came to my career, I was not leading myself. I was following a path that others suggested would be a good one for me. I realised that sometimes you have to live it and learn from it.
I am sharing 3 questions to reflect on leading yourself:
💛 Am I doing it for me or for someone else (parents, teacher, community, other influence)? (This does not mean your immediate family.)
💛 Do I feel 100% comfortable with the career path, ambition/goal or what I am working towards?
💛 Would I take this action if I believed I could live a completely different life with no pain or discomfort?
Were you able to answer any of those questions in good faith, without squirming or trying to avoid facing an uncomfortable truth? It's through staring head on the uncomfortable truth that we can truly make the change that we desire. What are your thoughts?
