4 Ways to have your most productive September

Aug 25, 2021 4:01 pm

Dear Wonderful Woman,

I hope you're well.

I'm now enjoying my self on holiday in the Lake District! As they say, here's one I prepared earlier. I didn't want you to miss me popping into your inbox, whilst I was taking a holiday.

With 4 months left of the year, you may be thinking about how to be more productive. Thinking about how you can "get back to work", after holidays and really go at full-power to get your career goals accomplished by the end of the year. One of the things I like about September is the opportunities that it can bring, when you take positive intentional action. Traditionally it's said to be one of the best times to land a new job. So if you're seeking a new role to end your year strong, September is the time to hit it hard with the applications!

I'm excited about September because I am sharing and running some really exciting new offerings. I'm also thinking about how I can be more productive in September, and for the remainder of the year. So, I wanted to share with you some tips on how to be more productive.

Check out the tips below:

1 Determine the times of day when you are most productive

You know if you're a morning, afternoon, or evening person! Knowing that is one thing. Taking action to plan around it, is where we may fall-down. Because it's so easy to be busy, but not productive. Organise your day around your most productive times. Choose the tasks that require most energy from you, and do those at times where you have most energy and focus.

2 Have a good sleep routine

We all know that having a good amount of sleep, keeps you healthy and well. However taking the time to think about how much sleep you have, or creating a sleep routine, can sometimes slip down the agenda of things to do with a busy life. Take a moment to reflect on how much sleep do you get? Are you getting enough? How can you put in place a routine that allows you to get enough sleep? Tiredness kills your productivity! So make time, to improve your sleep routine, and become more energised.

3 Beat procrastination

Procrastination is the thief of your progress and is a big productivity killer. It's a tough one to beat. There are ways you can become aware, and then choose to take action to make progress. Often procrastination can stem from fear, anxiety, and perfectionism. Once you become aware of it, ask yourself what is the problem I need to solve? How can I overcome that challenge? What's one thing that I can commit to doing today that will move me forward with the task? Then take action and do it! Remember to be compassionate with yourself. Believe that taking action will gain you momentum, allow you to grow and learn. Fear of failure should not let procrastination, stop your progress. Failure is a process that leads to your success. Consider how you can take consistent action steps, to release procrastination and take positive intentional action.

4 Self-Care & Exercise

You are more productive if you're physically and mentally well! Being physically active as part of your daily and weekly routine gives you a break. It helps you to raise your energy levels up! Schedule time for physical activity during your week. We all need to give ourselves time to rest and to look after our mind and body. Having a self-care routine allows you to engage in activities that you enjoy. Schedule time every week to engage in self-care activities that help you to maintain good mental and physical health.

I hope you take some time to think about, "What could I stop doing?" that would give me more time to be productive. We all know that we do things, which distract our focus, like spend way too much time on social media, or not saying "No" enough in order to protect your bandwidth and productivity. Whatever it is for you, perhaps as you think about going back to work in September, now is the moment to put in place a way to cut that thing out! Start slowly by reducing the time spent doing it and work to cut it out completely. With that in mind I hope that this September is one of your most productive!

In the next email on Thursday, I'll be sharing with you why I am so excited about the Succeed at Failure Workshop, 1st - 6th Sept and why I think you should join us!

Ekua 💛
