Dear Wonderful Woman,

I hope you're well.

We've recently had some new joiners to the list, so a very warm welcome to you. 

When you think about what you enjoy about your job, is it the activities you're involved with, the impact you make or the industry that you're in that excites you? If you're not satisfied by your job, or you're considering changing your career, it's helpful to think about your Career Values. 

What are your Career Values? They are the tangible and intangible things that you look to get out of your job. The things that make you thrive, and make work fulfilling, and worthwhile for you. There are 3 types of Career Values. Check out the list below:

Intrinsic Values: The values that help you feel motivated and fulfilled.

Extrinsic Values: The tangible rewards such as wealth, or social status.

Lifestyle Values: The kind of lifestyle that you want your career to enable. (location, remote)

Have you reflected on your Career Values recently. Does everything seem to be in check or is there something that's not right? If there is something not right, consider if the issue is something temporary, or more fundamental. Fundamental issues would be: you want to go in a different career direction, or you want to have a different impact, or live a different life style. Reflect on the issue, ask for advice, and then decide to take action to re-align your career in a direction that gives you purpose and meaning. 

You're one incredible woman, with many gifts and talents. Lean into that, don't feel restricted to stick too one career path or journey. There are many ways to create a career portfolio of projects and work that you enjoy. Start small, explore by learning more about a potential career direction. Take an online course, get involved in a community of practice or volunteer. 

Use your Career Values to adjust your career in line with the life that you want to lead. Consider what's important to you and take action to make that be a part of your career.

Wishing you all the best for this start of this new month. Open your mind to the possibilities that are available to you.
