3 Myths About Goal-Setting & Achievement!

Dear Wonderful Woman,

How are you doing?

I hope you're well.

I am feeling well and refreshed. Yesterday, I took my first ever Wellbeing Day Off. I had been feeling my indicators for Burnout and I decided to take action and do it differently. At the end of last year, I committed to taking sick days and mental health days off.

I wanted to share with you some myths about goal setting and achievement and a personal story. So first 3 Myths about goal-setting and achievement:

1 Once you commit to a goal, you should never change it!

This is a myth because your goal is there to help you to advance towards what you desire, or want to achieve and that may change. So logically so should your goal, but sometimes we don't give ourselves grace. We stick with goals, which may be less relevant for the here and NOW!

2 Your progress on your goal is there to haunt you, make you feel bad, or berate yourself!

This is a myth because your goal is not there to JUDGE you, it is there to anchor your steps as you work towards your dreams and desires. So make sure you trash this myth if it's one that hampers your progress with working towards your goals.

3 You must achieve your goal in the timeframe that you set, or you're a FAILURE!

This is a myth because surely all you want to do is achieve your goal! And yes, I too have issues with patience 100%! However, if you achieve your goal and it's not as soon as you had hoped too, you have STILL achieved your GOAL! So, let's try not to lose sight of that fact Ladies.

And now I'd like to share a quick story with you all about how I've implemented No.1! I set myself a goal for this quater, which I thought I wanted, and believed would move my business forward. I recently came to the realisation that this goal was not serving me and I was doing it to try to prove myself to others. It was a hard pill to swallow and I decided not to let my goal guilt me into sticking with it! Instead, I changed my goal into something new that actually does serve me and my business.
