Hi there,
Today's topic is about detoxing. And how it is important to remove toxins from your lifestyle while simultaneously supporting your detox organs.
The work "detox" gets thrown around much more than it should. If you had a weekend of eating out, alcohol, indulging... your first thought should not be detoxing or fasting.
Our body's are natural detoxing machines! There is no need to spend money on a juice cleanse, or supplements for that matter.
Sure, those things are helpful in their own way. But it's important to address our body first, and support the natural detoxification process.
Often times, these detox pathways can be "blocked" and therefore we need to open them to allow for our body to filter out any toxins our body has.
What are our detox organs?
There are six organs in the body that are used to eliminate toxins:
- Liver
- Gut
- Kidneys
- Lungs
- Lymph
- Skin
Our liver is a major detox organ and is working 24/7 to turn toxins into neutral substances.
Our gut microbiome is also another key part! Poor gut health will result in not being able to detox properly, because there are key strains of bacteria that may be decreased in our gut. Remember, 80% of our immune system resides in our gut!
Our kidneys, lymphatic system, and lungs are key in helping to eliminate toxins as well. Whether it's filtering them out of the blood, or breathing them out!
Lastly, our skin. Our sweat is eliminating toxins, heavy metals, etc. This is why it is important to find a little time in your day to sweat it out!
How do we support our detox organs?
Lets start with supporting our body naturally:
- Eat liver healthy foods: cruciferous vegetables, turmeric, ginger, beets, onions/garlic
- Plant based food allows our body to increase it's fiber intake, which promotes a healthy gut
- Drink plenty of water for the kidneys
- Exercise or move daily for the lymphatic system
- Keep your environment clean! Open the windows to allow fresh air into your home. Consider an air filter and filling your home with air purifying plants. This is very helpful for the lungs
- Sweating is very important! Either through exercise or through sauna use
How can an Infrared Sauna be helpful?
The topic of sweating brings me to my next subject: Infrared Sauna. I personally have one and use it 4-5x/week to allow for detoxification. Below are some key benefits to using one:
- Improves arterial health, circulation, blood pressure, and lipid profile
- Stimulates BDNF for cognition & memory
- Improves lung capacity and function
- Frequent sauna use results in reduced risk of death from heart disease and stroke
- Decreases inflammatory markers such as ESR & CRP
The important thing to consider when buying a sauna is that it has minimal EMFs & volatile organic compounds. You want to make sure it has no toxic glues or plywood.
That is why my favorite sauna is Sunlighten! This is a completely transparent company that uses the best materials in their production.
They are currently having a great deal right now for their saunas, with $200 off and free shipping!
To access the deal, use code DRPEACOCK at checkout. This deal will only last a couple of weeks!
I personally use the solo portable sauna. It's a perfect fit in my home and I can also bring it with me anywhere!

It's important to also eliminate the toxic products being used in our daily environment. Products such as hair care, deodorants, lotions, cookware, etc contain many synthetic chemicals known to cause harm. The worst part: these are not regulated by the FDA!
If you have noticed symptoms that seem to have an unexplainable reason for appearing, and your doctor says everything looks "normal" on labs, your environment should be looked into.
You can visit my shop for more information on my favorite non toxic products.
My 1:1 coaching sessions revolve around slowly integrating non toxic products and meal plans specific to you. By integrating an approach around healthier living, this will allow you to feel your best!

Have a wonderful week!
