What are my personal tips for weight loss?


I'm not going to tell you to eat 1200 calories/day. I'm not going to tell you to start the ketogenic diet. I'm definitely not going to tell you to overexercise.


So what's the secret to weight loss AND keeping it off?


I'll give a couple tips:


Sustainable habits with whole plant foods

  • Yes, you heard it here! Understanding caloric density and building you plate to optimally fit your nutritional needs is key.
  • Fill up on non starchy vegetables to help create satiation in your body. If you aren't getting full, you'll be hungry and devour anything in sight!
  • Add that protein source!! Protein is the MOST satiating macronutrient. Ie soy products, hemp, lentils, black bean pastas..
  • Making sure you're in a slight caloric deficit! You can't outrun the law of thermodynamics.


Making sure your gut is healthy!

  • Do you have symptoms that your gut isn't happy? This can look like bloating, constipation, nausea, diarrhea, heartburn, sugar cravings, gas, weight gain, skin irritation, etc
  • The gut is involved in digesting food and absorbing the nutrients.
  • If your gut is "leaky", then you can see where the problem lies with gaining weight. Your gut will be absorbing unnecessary calories.


Reduce exposure to environmental toxins

  • There are chemicals found in many products that actually promote weight gain. These are termed "obesogenic"
  • My biggest starting point for all my clients is reducing their exposure to plastics and switching to glass/stainless steel
