Tried everything to lose weight and still nothing?

environmental toxins could be the missing link.

Did you know that fat has been recognized as an endocrine organ? It actually releases more than 20 hormones, some of which are related to appetite and metabolism, BUT can also communicate with various other organs.

Therefore… it’s not so simple as:

1️⃣diet change

2️⃣calories in calories out

3️⃣exercise, etc.

Although these do play an important role too!

Ballie- Hamilton was the first to show a correlation between the rise in chemical manufacturing after WWII and the rise in obesity.

What are these chemicals & where are they found?

These chemicals are found in ⬇️

  • Personal care products
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Foods

… to name a few.

So how do they impact our ability to gain and lose weight?

Because they are endocrine disruptors, meaning these can interfere with how hormones work in our body.

…well how does this relate to weight?

These can act directly on the fat to produce more fat cells, larger fat cells, or more cells that are destined to become fat cells.

Not only that, but these chemicals can influence metabolism, and influence how our body controls metabolism and appetite

Going back to our fat being an endocrine organ… how do these chemicals influence this?

  • Activating PPARy which initiates a program of gene expression controlling numerous genes involved in fat cell production, fatty acid synthesis, and storage.
  • Interferes with leptin, our body’s appetite suppressant (causing something also known as leptin resistance, where we don’t reach “fullness”)
  • They can cause insulin resistance, leading to increased fat storage

This all being said, don’t jump trying to make swaps everywhere for better products. Start with what’s easy and convenient.
