Happy Monday!
I wanted to start everyone's week off with this amazing recipe. My favorite thing to show people is eating plant based isn't "giving up" your favorite foods!
I like to think of plant based eating as the most natural way to promote wellness in your body. It's also extremely versatile. You can make any recipe suitable to your specific goals: whether it's to lose weight, eat less processed, or gain muscle.
This recipe can be made for all the above goals:
- Losing weight: its a low calorie, refined sugar free dessert
- Eat less processed: this recipe is all unprocessed whole plant foods
- Gain lean muscle mass: you can swap in a scoop of protein powder for 1 of the scoops of oat flour
RECIPE:
2T oat flour
1/2t baking powder (make sure to buy aluminum free!)
1T maple syrup
2T banana (mashed)
1T peanut butter
1T plant milk
1T dark chocolate chips
METHOD:
Mix dry ingredients in a mug. Then add in wet ingredients. Finally mix in the chocolate chips. Microwave on high for 90sec-2mins.
Low toxin living:
Sadly, a lot of different products we use contain synthetic chemicals that aren't good for us. This doesn't mean ALL chemicals are bad, but most are not regulated and there's now evidence showing their potential to lead to different health conditions, inability to lose weight, etc.
To start, chocolate is one of the highest sources of heavy metals!
Always check companies to make sure they run a Certificate of Analysis (meaning they third party tested their product and have a cert showing any levels of heavy metals/mold/pesticides).
My personal favorite chocolate company because they test the lowest is Santa Barbara Chocolate. Alter Eco is another good brand.
Protein powder also tends to test very high for heavy metals. This is why I love Nuzest because they third party test every new batch made. Use code DRPEACOCK for 15% off.
Coffee is another product that tests high for heavy metals, mold, and pesticides. Purity Coffee is the only brand I'm aware of that third party tests theirs, and is free of those toxins. Code DRPEACOCK20 for 20% off.
And finally... making sure the air in your home is clean! On average, home air is 5-7x more toxic than outdoor air. Using an ultra HEPA filter from AirDoctor captures the smallest particles (.003 microns in size). They're having a huge spring sale, including $300 of their AD3000 which is the one I use.
I hope these tips were helpful. Enjoy the recipe!
Happiness & health,
Stephanie
