Day 3 Health Challenge

Happy Wednesday!

I hope you are enjoying all the meals, meditations, and healthy swaps so far.

Remember, this is not meant to be stressful. It's about giving your body the attention it deserves and slowly implementing positive changes!

Even if you're only able to hit 3 out of 5 goals for the day, that is perfect.

Now let's move on to today's topic!

Meditation:

Here is the link for today's meditation. Slowly increasing the meditation to 10 minutes! It's a wonderful guided meditation that allows you to exhibit positivity toward a goal you have.

Let's talk about plastic:

Plastic contains many different harmful chemicals: BPA & phthalates as the two more well known ones.

BPA was initially used as synthetic estrogen to be use as a medication, later found to be able to harden plastic and be waterproof. This is why it has effects on our hormones. It affects our fertility.

When these compounds exceed our body’s ability to eliminate them, they start to accumulate in our body and have impacts.

We now know the harmful effects of BPA are at levels below the EPA safe dose of 50 micrograms/kg/day

BPA can also affect insulin (main hormone that controls blood sugar).

  • Common symptoms of BS dysregulation are: fatigue (because blood sugar can’t get inside the cells) and also sugar cravings. Insulin resistance: the cell no longer responds to insulin.

BPA affects our gut: causes dysbiosis and contributes to leaky gut, which leads to inflammation and triggers other chronic conditions.

BPA exposure during critical developments can affect brain/nerves in embryos. It's also associated with ADHD.

How to switch?

Start with what you're drinking your water out of. Switch to glass or stainless steel.

Next: what do you store your food in? Swap any plastic containers for glass storage containers instead.

When using a blender or food processor, make sure the liquid or food isn't hot before placing it in. When it's hot, it actually leeches harmful chemicals into whatever you're consuming!

Lastly: focus on adding in different herbs throughout the day! Aim for 2 herbs/day in your meals. These up regulate your body's main antioxidant (glutathione) and allow your body to process through chemicals it's coming into contact with!

Happiness & health,

Stephanie
