A lesson I learned from my mother — years later

Hi ,

You don’t always need advice.

Sometimes, you just need someone to be there — and someone to check on you.

Today is my mother’s birthday.

And it felt like the right moment to reflect on what I learned from her, long before I understood its value.

As a child, I always wanted her to be near me when I was studying.

Not to teach me.

I studied by myself.

But her presence gave me comfort.

It gave me interest in studying.

And somehow, it made me more disciplined and motivated.

Whenever I lost confidence, she would give it back to me.

She used to say:

“गिरोगे तो इतना नीचे गिरोगे कि हमसे नीचे कोई नहीं.

सोचोगे तो इतना ऊँचा सोचोगे कि हमसे ऊँचा कोई नहीं.”

Which means:

“If you fall, you’ll fall so low that no one can be lower than you.

And if you think, think so high that no one can be higher than you.”

When I was preparing for my Class 12 board exams, she would walk from the ground floor to the second floor — just to check whether I was studying or sleeping.

From Class 6 onwards, I did everything on my own.

Still, I always felt better knowing someone was there.

Over time, I realized two simple things:

  1. When you feel someone is with you, you stay motivated and take action.
  2. When you know someone is checking on you, you stay alert and disciplined.

Both help you keep moving.

This matters even more for senior working professionals trying to build something alongside a full-time career.

Yes, execution is always done alone.

But doing it completely alone — guided by random YouTube or beginner advice — can be dangerous at this stage of life.

That’s why I’m opening something small and personal this week.

I’m running a 7-day Digital Business program — and I’m offering a special, limited invite to people on this list who want clarity before commitment.

No pressure. No public launch.

If this feels relevant to where you are right now, just reply to this email with the word “CLARITY”.

I’ll personally share the details with you.

Warm regards,

Dr Ashish Juneja
