How to work out when traveling

Quick tip:

This morning, I squeezed in a short gym workout because I'll be traveling to another city and I'm unsure about the situation there.

Today was supposed to be a rest day, but when you anticipate an unplanned break, it's okay to overreach a bit.

My workout wasn't great—I hadn't fully recovered from the last session. My 1RMs went down ;(

But if you stack your training before a trip, expect this and be okay with it.

Often, when you give your body extra recovery time later, you'll supercompensate, like you would have with your regular routine. It's not perfect, but it sure beats missing a workout.

So, if you foresee an unplanned break, consider front-loading your workout week to keep things on track.

To your success,
