Myth as Medicine week 6- Postponed due to sickness!

Greeting all,

I hope you've had a good week dreaming with bear medicine and last week's story.

I've enjoyed picking up on a few reflections via slack etc.

I'm sorry to say that I've come down with some kind of flu and feel it's best to postpone tonight's session. I'm sorry to mess about, but my throat is really raw which isn't ideal for storytelling and I don't feel lucid enough to run the session to the level that I aspire to.

It does mean pushing back the final 'ceilidh' session of the course, to either the 12th of Dec or even January, but I'm sure we can work that out.

If you are interested to tune into a story this eve, I thought to provide this video of the 'Seal Catcher' as a bonus:

It's a selkie tale from the far north of Scotland. Maybe a little bit similar in some ways to last week's tale in terms of darkness then redemption.

I'll send a follow up email with some musings from this tale, but will allow a bit of time for you to reflect yourself first. Feel free to post initial impressions in the slack group.

If you want to go a bit deeper with it, maybe consider some journalling questions such as:

What is the wound that can become our gift?

Which ancestral gifts as well as skeletons have we inherited?

Which wound do we have the power to 'kiss' and make right?

Also, being about halfway through this Myth as Medicine journey, you might want to consider your experience so far.

Which has been your favourite story?

Which activities have stuck with you?

What, if anything, has changed?

If you were to offer a story, poem or song to a myth as medicine ceilidh, what would you share?

Maybe you'll enjoy hearing a selkie song by Julie Fowlis:

Also, if you haven't watched the Song of the Sea animation I highly recommend it!

I hope you enjoy this week's story, albeit in pre-recorded form.

As mentioned, we'll do an extra session at the end, and I expect to be back in full health and vitality for next week when we'll have a Celtic tale of fire.

Wishing you all the best through the week.

Dougie
