Myth as Medicine week 8 video & prompts
Apr 27, 2023 10:01 am
Hi Everyone,
Thanks to everyone who made it along last night as we returned to Finn and the curious tale of the birth of his son, Ossian, greatest poet amongst the Fianna.
Hear the story and the group chat via the video:

We've got a mixture of story tasks to play with this week:
Some journal questions around enchantment:
When have you been fixed in a shape that is not your true form?
What was needed to break the enchantment?
Even in dark times what lifts your spirits? (Finn during his wandering)
Birthing the poet:
-At your sit spot or out on a wander, write a poem. Either follow your own poetic musings, or follow on of these prompts.
Option 1: Write 6 lines about anything, must rhyme.
Option 2: Follow a prompt from one of the stories covered and see where it takes you:
e.g. "When is gaze into the pool of the world I see...."
"When I follow the tracks of the deer I find...."
'If I were to run with the wolves....'
'During my darkest wanderings....'
etc
Feel free to draw your own prompt from one of the stories or elsewhere.
-create a myth as medicine Haiku.
(it has three lines of 5 syllables, 7 syllables then 5 syllables, it doesn't rhyme, it has a 'kireji' or cutting word and a 'kigo' or seasonal reference.
Finn and Sabha's passion
-What are things that really makes your heart sing? Do something to tend your heart this week.
The poet outlives their companions (and culture)
-What remnants of early/ancestral culture can we access or glimpsed through art?
Go and discover a piece of art that carries echoes of an older culture.
...........
On a practical note, we are nearing the close of this Myth as Medicine cycle. If you have any ideas or needs around ending things in a good way, next steps etc I'd welcome your ideas.
As it stands, we'll have one more classic Myth as Medicine session next week, then a closing ceilidh the following week.
....
Keen to hear your thoughts.
Have a splendid week.
Dougie
