Podcast and Summer Fun
Jun 09, 2023 9:59 am
Warm greetings from the height of Scottish summer,
It seems the sun never sets in Scotland in June and there is a verdant lushness to the land.
I've been at festivals these past two weekends, and am building up to a primitive skills trip to Norway at the end of the month, but do have few things to share before I disappear offline for a while.
Firstly
I've released a podcast!
I've been brewing the sone for a very long time, but finally have released five episodes of 'Tales for our Times'. The show is an exploration into storytelling and folk culture and how they can support us amidst the turbulence of the modern world. Some weeks we go deep with a particular topic, others I just share a story that catches my interest.
Any feedback and ideas at this stage would be greatly appreciated!
Also, any reviews, comments and shares would be really helpful.
If you feel like sharing via social media, or direct to friends and family, you can share the following link:

Online event
Next week on June 15th I'll be hosting 'Lithica Tales', an online storytelling event exploring themes of wildness, primitive skills and ancestral wit. I'm hosting it to raise funds for the primitive skills camp and re-wilding project that I'll be joining in Norway. I've invited some cracking storytellers to join me. Tickets are 'pay what you can', simply adjust the price, and I'll send you the access link. Bring your pals!

Live events
June 14th in Balerno Woodland
Last month we had our first gathering in the woods, sharing tales of treasure in our own back yard and shapeshifting fox women. It was a potent gathering.
This session is open to previous and new participants and is entirely by donation.

June 17th Green Man at Rosslyn Chapel
It makes sense to tell Green Man tales at the height of summer with nature in all its glory. I'll be back at the majestic Rosslyn Chapel, offering tales as part of their Green Man Day.

Edinburgh Fringe
I won't say too much about it right now, but if you are looking for something special to do during Edinburgh's Fringe Festival, I'll be giving my Animate Lands show a whirl over 5 days (5-10th Aug) with the ultra talented musician Freya Rae. I'm really excited about this one, with more news to come.
..........
That's it for now.
Wishing you a glorious midsummer, with plenty adventure and wild swimming.
All best
Dougie
