Happy Year of the Tiger to all my readers! I generally send a newsletter twice a month, but I skipped the second half of December because for the first time in two years, I spent the holidays with my family in southern Idaho. It was a bit bittersweet because my parents had sold my childhood home in the country and moved into town, but honestly, seeing my folks is what really mattered to me. My daughters got to run around in the snow with their cousins, I caught up with my parents and three of my sisters, and we all played a bunch of board games (because that's how my family rolls! Ha, get it? Because dice...I'll see myself out).
One of the most memorable experiences of the trip, however, was the weather. The western United States got hammered with a severe, far-reaching storm starting the week before Christmas that lasted most of our trip. Our family took the 11-hour trip between our home in Oregon to my parents in Idaho whenever snow wasn't closing down major highways. Even then, some sections of road were still icy, and there was a good 60-mile stretch on the return trip where we white-knuckled it over a mountain pass.
I will admit that bad weather does make for some breathtaking pictures, though, like this surreal valley of fog.
And because art often imitates life, Ina will face her own storm in the latest installment of the Magic of Nasci nature wizard series. I'm happy to say that Howling Storm, Book 8 of the series, comes out today as an ebook, paperback, and in Kindle Unlimited. For those long term fans who've been waiting to see what will happen with the shepherds' North vs. South homestead standoff (and what's up between Ina and Vincent), I hope this installment won't disappoint. Please tell me what you think of the book's ending when you get a chance: [email protected].
And for those of you who need something to read after finishing the Magic of Nasci, I've got Book 1 of my portal fantasy series on sale for $0.99 in the US Amazon store (and 99p in the UK) until January 17th. Avalon Benton didn’t mean to bring the fairy statue in the Hall of Mirrors to life, but she does…with magic she didn’t know she had.
