Summer's winding down, but I can't complain. I had a fantastic summer, going through several books in my TBR, drafting a new novel, and also traveling to Japan with my extended family!
My husband and I in front of a path lined by torii gates at Fushimi Inari Taisha in Kyoto, Japan.
This wasn't my first trip to Japan. I lived there fresh out of college, teaching English at four different high schools in Aichi prefecture. It had been 18 years since my last visit, though, and neither my husband nor my children had ever been there. I met old friends, visited familiar places, plus snuck in a bit of cultural exposure for my family to boot.
Okay, and just maybe I geeked out a few anime shops and game centers too. What can I say? I'm a giant nerd.
As August wraps up, though, my sights are on the release of the third and final installment of magical librarian Rosalind's story. Fate of the Fae Library comes out on September 12th! If you can't wait that long, how about a free sneak peek of the first few chapters?
In addition to this free preview, I've also teamed up with some excellent fantasy authors to provide you one last hurray of summer reading. From now until August 24th, download 22 free supernatural, paranormal, and fantasy ebooks!
What have you read this summer? Have you ever been to Japan? I want to hear about it at [email protected].
Other Cozy Stories for Summer's End

Until next time, happy adventuring!
