Ragnarok: An Urban Fantasy TV Series Straight from Norway

Like lots of Marvel fans, I'm very excited for the Loki TV series coming out today. Since the episodes are coming out weekly, though, you might need some other shows to fill in the gaps. If you need some extra Norse mythology in your viewing lineup, then I highly recommend Ragnarok, a Norwegian urban fantasy show on Netflix.

Ragnarok explores what the world might be like if the Norse gods and their enemies were real. Starting with a seemingly ordinary family moving into a rural country town, the show quickly dives into Magne discovering strange powers (and people) while simultaneously uncovering a huge industrial secret with significant environmental consequences.

The series does a good job of weaving mystery and action to deliver a heart-wrenching plot for the protagonist. If you are familiar with the original myths, you'll spend a decent amount of time guessing what character is which legendary being, with some surprises. Season 1 did end on a cliffhanger, but thankfully, the second season just dropped on May 27th.

Got a fantasy-based show you'd like to recommend? I'm always looking for something new to watch after putting the kids to bed. Email me at [email protected].
