Finding your dream waterfront location
Where is the perfect location for me?
Remember our rule about not spending more than 25% of your budget on the land.
First let us decide where we want to be. Florida’s East Coast is quite lovely and covered with fine sandy beaches. The cost of land on the ocean is expensive, the intercoastal is not any less expensive. The gulf side of the state towards the north has considerable lowland but waterfront is still expensive.
There are a number of rivers that might also fit the bill as well as inland lakes. Once you have zeroed in on where you would like to build your dream home, contact a well-known experienced realtor in the area. That realtor knows how to find information regarding what is available and at what price point. Understand that when you are buying land your realtor gets their fees from the seller. Use this opportunity to your advantage.
Another approach may be, locate property that already has a home on it that you may consider tearing down to build your home. Remember there are hidden gems that have a view of the water but are not on the water. Once you have decided where this property is, have your realtor check out school districts, churches, shopping, and traffic routes.
I have attached pictures that will give you an idea of the views. I have also attached a view of a property that was not on the water but had a magnificent view. Next time we're going to talk about your wonderful piece of property and questions concerning zoning, soil tests, permits, and surveys.
Stay tuned, there's a lot more to come,
