Vegetables provide more than fiber. They also contain phytonutrients.
Phytonutrients are natural plant compounds that help protect our bodies from disease.
They help:
- Reduce inflammation
- Support immunity
- Protect against chronic disease

Eating the rainbow ensures a wide variety of nutrients.
When Fiber May Need to Be Limited
Although fiber is beneficial, some individuals may temporarily need a lower fiber intake.
Examples include:
- Active inflammatory bowel disease
- Post-surgery recovery
- Severe gastrointestinal distress
- Certain medical procedures
In these cases, fiber intake should be guided by a healthcare professional.
✅ Try This Week
✅ Write out, purchase, and eat at least:
- 1 red food
- 1 green food
- 1 orange/yellow food
- 1 purple/blue food
- 1 white food
during the week
✅ Build one fully “rainbow-colored” plate
✅ Try a vegetable you rarely eat
✅ Add herbs or spices to increase flavor naturally
✅ Experiment with a new cooking method:
- Roasting
- Grilling
- Stir-frying
- Air frying
