Vegetables provide more than fiber. They also contain phytonutrients.

Phytonutrients are natural plant compounds that help protect our bodies from disease.

They help:

  • Reduce inflammation
  • Support immunity
  • Protect against chronic disease

When Fiber May Need to Be Limited

Although fiber is beneficial, some individuals may temporarily need a lower fiber intake.

Examples include:

  • Active inflammatory bowel disease
  • Post-surgery recovery
  • Severe gastrointestinal distress
  • Certain medical procedures

In these cases, fiber intake should be guided by a healthcare professional.



✅ Try This Week

✅ Write out, purchase, and eat at least:

  • 1 red food
  • 1 green food
  • 1 orange/yellow food
  • 1 purple/blue food
  • 1 white food

during the week

✅ Build one fully “rainbow-colored” plate

✅ Try a vegetable you rarely eat

✅ Add herbs or spices to increase flavor naturally

✅ Experiment with a new cooking method:

  • Roasting
  • Grilling
  • Stir-frying
  • Air frying
