📢 Some major Duolingo English Test news!

Get ready for three significant updates to the test starting on May 1st this year.

Don't worry, I've got you covered with all the details!👇

1. Introducing "Interactive Listening"

Get ready for a new question type on the Duolingo English Test!

The new Interactive Listening question will require you to actively participate in an academic conversation while answering multiple-choice questions throughout the discussion.

Here are some key points:👇

• Participate in an academic conversation with a peer or professor.
• Listen and answer 5-6 multiple-choice questions (4 minutes).
• Pay close attention! The audio clips can only be played once.
• After listening, write a short summary of the conversation (75 seconds).

2. Farewell to "Listen and Select"

Good news! The challenging Listen and Select vocabulary question type will be removed from the test starting May 1, 2023. The Read and Select vocabulary question type will remain on the exam, leaving only one vocabulary question type.

3. Grading Introduced for the "Speaking Sample"

The Speaking Sample will become a graded question, contributing to your production subscore and your overall score on the DET. Your speaking sample will still be sent to the universities you apply to.
