One of my students, Ana, recently took the Duolingo practice test and felt great.

Then she took the real exam... 😱

“Why is this question showing up again?”

“Wait... three photos in a row??”

“This test is longer than I thought! I'm exhausted!"

Yeah...

The practice test is not exactly the same as the official one.

Here’s what most students don’t know:

While the practice test does include all 14 question types, the frequency of questions is not the same.

Here are some of the main differences 👇

• Write About the Photo: 1 on practice → 3 on the real test
• Listen, Then Speak: 1 on practice → 2 on the real test
• Interactive Reading & Listening: also 2 on the real test
• Practice test: ~45 mins
• Official test: 60+ mins
