The Production Subscore is the most challenging part of the test for most test-takers. It's where your speaking and writing skills are evaluated.

So, let's talk about the production questions today 🧐

As of 2023, there are 8 question types that contribute to your Production Subscore 👇

• Speak About the Photo: once on the test
• Write About the Photo: 3 times
• Summarize the conversation: twice
• Read, Then Write: once
• Read, Then Speak: once
• Listen, Then Speak: twice
• Speaking Sample: once
• Writing Sample: once

✅ How are you scored?

Your answers are evaluated based on certain points. These points determine your overall score for the Production Subscore:

• Grammatical accuracy: The correctness of your grammar
• Grammatical complexity: The variety and level of your grammar
• Lexical sophistication: The level of vocabulary used
• Lexical diversity: The variety of word choice
• Task relevance: How well you answer the question that was asked
• Fluency: How much you can say or write in a limited time
• Acoustic features: Your pronunciation and pace (speaking questions only)

💡 Quick tips

• Use various grammar structures and vocabulary.
• Aim to use complex structures accurately, at least once per answer.
• Make sure your answers are directly related to the questions.
• Don't use memorized answers! Your test might be uncertified if you do.
• Speak and write as much as you can – go beyond the minimum requirements!
