Me on the big slide at the Minnesota State Fair
Monthly Contest Winner
Congratulations to A. Bernstein of New Jersey for winning our August giveaway!
Hello there!
I'm sad that summer is over. It sure went by fast, didn't it? I love the sunny days, rainy nights, driving vacations and raising Monarchs, but even so, the best part always comes at the end, The Minnesota State Fair. It's ten days of food on a stick, rides, exhibits, and entertainment but unfortunately, it's also people, people, people! I don't like big crowds and certainly not elbow-to-elbow people, but we went on a weekday when the fair was only about half full and the weather was comfortable.
I had the breakfast of champions--fresh hot coffee from the Farmers' Union and mini-donuts! Yum! I look forward to those greasy, sugary little rings that are so hot they burn your fingers. I watched them pop out of the fryer while the kid behind the counter rolled them in sugar and filled the bag. Good times, LOL!
My writing has stalled over the summer with traveling, gardening and lots of days too hot to do anything but sew bookbags in my craft room in the basement. My last Monarch hatched today. It was a big one, so I hope it makes it to Mexico for the winter. I have two books to write, an older one to update, books to upload to Ingram and a Tik Tok account to work on. Just thinking about it feels overwhelming! BUT--I'm currently on a weeklong retreat to Breezy Point, Minnesota with a couple of other writers where I hope to get some serious writing done, eat a lot of cupcakes, and get my momentum back. I don't want to come back here next month and report that I didn't make much progress so I'm going to work hard.
