G'day, ,

Aaaand we're back to our regular program. Loving Roman is now out in the world! I can't believe I've written and published TEN books. I know it doesn't seem like many since I first published in 2021, but it's been a tonne of work. Literally hundreds and hundreds of hours staring at a screen, creating characters who, after heartbreak, finally find their happy ever afters.

Thanks so much for being here with me through it all.

I wouldn't be writing these stories without you!

💜💜💜

It's been the wettest winter in Perth since 1996, and we also recorded the coldest day in 50 years the other day with a maximum temperature of 11.4 °C (52.52 °F). So many people don't like the rain and the cold, but I love it (as long as I don't have to leave the house). It gives me the perfect excuse to curl up in my favourite chair and read! Not that I need an excuse to read, because I'm pretty sure I'm addicted at this point. 🤣

I'm still reducing my sugar intake! Go me! I've started to notice a dip at my waist, and my clothes are feeling a little loose! I'm proud that I've maintained the reduction in sugar because I'm generally not the best at sticking with things. 😬 I have allowed myself a small sweet treat here and there. I figure if I deny myself completely, I'll make it harder on myself, and I don't want to do that. Life is already hard enough.

I'm currently one-third of the way through writing the first draft of Nix and Abbi's story. They've been married almost thirty years when Abbi 'blindsides' Nix with her request for a divorce.

The first part of the story is usually the slowest for me as I get to know my characters. Once I have a better idea about how they deal with situations, what their hurts and quirks are, I slip through the rest of the story a little faster. However, I think this story is going to test me.

It's interesting to come into a story where the characters are already so familiar with each other. They already have so much history behind them. There's none of the initial get to know you stuff because they know each other inside and out. Or so they think!

Because let's face it, none of us are the same as we were when we were teens. We grow and change in so many ways that by the time we're in our late forties, we're mostly unrecognisable from who we once were.

I've also loved going back through my existing titles to check for details as several of your favourite characters make cameo appearances—ahhhh, who do you hope to see?

Claim Him

After a slow and tedious start to my month, I found my reading mojo again! Yay! We both know how much it sucks when you hit a reading slump, but I feel I'm on the other side now. Thankfully.

I started reading Hero by Lauren Rowe last month, and it took me until the middle of August to finish it. I picked it up because it featured a grieving widow, and as an author who's written this type of book, I'm always interested in seeing how other authors tackle this. I don't think there was anything wrong with this book, but I struggled to get through it. He is definitely a golden retriever Hero with a LOT of energy (along with the rest of his family). She's raising three kids after losing her husband on the job and trying to deal with his parents, who are still so buried in their grief, they're almost suffocating her and their grandchildren.

Next up, I picked up another paranormal romance featuring a vampire (I seem to be in my vampire era lol). Amos has to be the sweetest vampire on the planet, and I fell head over heels in love with him. He meets Tessa through an agency that matches vampires with a live blood donor. She joined as a donor to help get her mother out of debt. She's taken for granted in so many ways in her real life that Amos is a breath of fresh air for her. I loved the premise of this story as well as its sweetness. It definitely hit the spot for me.

Finally, I've been bingeing a new-to-me author, Amber Warden, and her Gentle Sinners series. Holy cow! I have been gobbling up these books faster than I can flick the pages. I find I'm stealing moments wherever I can to read a little more, a feeling I haven't experienced for a while. Each book is a stand-alone story; however, the characters make appearances across the series. The series is a mafia series with a TWIST! These aren't your regular mafia stories. They push the boundaries and flip the narrative of what we've come to expect from this subgenre of romance. They are completely refreshing in their point of difference, and I highly recommend giving them a shot. PLEASE check your trigger warnings, though. They do have darker themes.
