Happy belated Mother's Day to all the mums out there, those who have stepped into the role of mum, and those who will forever be mothers in their hearts. I hope you spent your special day doing whatever it is you love to do.

I spent my Mother's Day being spoiled by my hubby and two sons. I'm very lucky that my husband has always made a fuss over me for Mother's Day which always makes me feel special and appreciated.

My boys each wrote me a card or letter with words that were really touching, telling me how proud they are of me because I'm following my heart to write my books. It's something special to know your kids are proud of you. They also made me breakfast and we all went to visit one of my boyfriends at the cinema (we watched Guardians of the Galaxy Vol III—can you work out who my boyfriend is?).

We leave Em with her boys and make our way to the cemetery, stopping on the way to pick up the flowers I ordered. The sound of Kenny’s phone vibrating for the sixty-millionth time this morning breaks the silence of the cab. “You gonna answer that?”

“It’s probably just Will. He’s been messaging all weekend.”

Hackles rise on the back of my neck. “Who’s Will?”

She shrugs. “Maybe my boyfriend. I dunno. He kissed me on Friday.” The truck swerves to the right and I react quickly to correct it, then pull onto the shoulder and slam on the brakes. ~ Theo Drivas
