June's Crime Fiction Discounts and Freebies

Jun 01, 2025 3:41 pm

Hello, and welcome to new subscribers! May was a busy month with social events that included a wedding and an art show. One of my spouse’s new retirement hobbies is art. He began taking acrylics classes last fall and participated in his first art show this month. He won the People’s Choice award for a painting of our eldest granddaughter. The painting is based on a photo taken on a family vacation last summer. Ellie was three at the time and she loves opening doors to see what’s on the other side.

Just a reminder that the $.99 sales promo for my third Casey Holland mystery, Beneath the Bleak New Moon, continues until June 8th, which you can find HERE.

I also have 2 more BookFunnel deals for you this month. First up is a $.99 sale for the 4th book in the series, The Deep End. Here’s a short blurb:

MPT transit officer Casey Holland’s first volunteer shift at Fraserview Youth Custody Center turns deadly when the center’s director dies from heart failure. But all is not as it seems, and there are rumors that his death was no accident. On the home front, Summer’s delinquent boyfriend causes tension between her and Casey. As more death occurs in the detention center, Fraserview threatens to implode. Who is an ally and who is an enemy? Casey must find the answers before the killer tries to stop her.

Of all my books, this is the most autobiographical. I volunteered at a youth detention centre for a year while studying criminology many years ago. I pulled out old journals kept back then to remind myself of the ambiance of the centre. There were no deaths in my real-life experience, but there were escapes, conflicts, and thefts. You can find the link to BF’s group promo HERE.

I’m also taking part in another BookFunnel newsletter signup this month. This one focuses on strong female sleuths in the mystery, suspense and thriller categories. 18 authors are participating and it sounds intriguing. You can find the link HERE.
