Welcome to the new McNicol Mysteries newsletter. In an attempt to reduce workload so I can get back to writing, I am combining my two different newsletters into a single format. I will continue to mail twice a month, at least till the end of the year. I hope you will stick with me during this transition.
On a more personal note, not much is going on since I am still recovering from my shoulder injury. I have finally moved from sleeping in the recliner to sleeping in the bed (happy hubby). I'm still trying to not lift heavy items, but otherwise, it is getting better.
My baby brother came to visit us as he travels the eastern US on his motorcycle. We hadn't seen each other in several years so that was a nice couple of days. Oh, and the biggest news on the personal front...we finally had an electrician show up to wire hubby's pole barn! Heck, we've only been trying since May and he's our fourth contact. Phew! Next year, concrete.
I'm enjoying the cooler weather here in Tennessee, I hope your weather is moderating as well. Sitting on the back deck is a treat now and our two Goldendoodles are spending most of the day outside.
That's about it, so dive on in! There are some great books and promotions listed below. Now it's time for me to get back to writing!
John Lee Quarrels Book 10
When game warden Raymond McConnell is found murdered with his own knife in the cab of his state-issued pickup truck at a popular fishing lake, it’s hard to know where to begin an investigation because it’s doubtful that anyone in Somerton County had more enemies than McConnell. Even deputies John Lee Quarrels and Maddy Westfall are considered suspects at the onset of the investigation!
Nicky Matthews Mystery
When Fire-Sky Pueblo Police Sergeant Nicky Matthews is lured by an eerie spirit to the body of a missing cowboy, it should’ve been a cut and dry case—the New Mexico summer heat must have driven the poor guy to cool off in an isolated water tank with tragic consequences. But as Nicky investigates the cowboy’s erratic last days, his death turns more and more sinister.

Inspired-by-true-events tale of Jesse, a young boy growing up in Georgia's rural Blue Ridge Mountains, who is burdened with the "family secret". Jesse is pressured to keep the secret through intimidation, threats and violence but ultimately it's the SILENCE that proves his most difficult adversary.
Jesse begins his journey on his family's farm during WW2 and winds his way through the bluffs, backroads and hollows of that nostalgic time searching for answers to questions he doesn't know how to ask. All the while... wondering…doubting...seeking….
It's that time of year - Fall and Halloween!
Well, that about wraps it up for this issue. I hope you have enjoyed it and maybe even found a few fun books to read. Feel free to forward this to your mystery loving friends and we look forward to seeing you next time with more to share!
