Not toads that talk, just us talking about toads!

Did you know that the humble common toad was chosen as one of the target species for protection by Derbyshire County Council recently?

They (toads!) do a really important job, and are rightfully being recognised for their role in our ecosystems. Right now, as Spring progresses, they start to stir from their winter hiding places.

On mild Spring evenings toads will move to their breeding pools and around the country they're assisted in getting across roads safely by Toad Patrol teams.

We're part of such a team in Buxworth and if being involved in helping is something you'd consider then this Tuesday evening 17th Feb at 7:15pm we're gathering at Buxworth memorial club to go over plans for the coming toad migration season. Do come along if you'd like to know more.
