Hi

In recognition for the work we've done to reduce plastic use in the local community, we've been given the Gold Plastic Free Champion award by Surfers Against Sewage!

Thank you for your part in this success and to everyone who has been refilling and reducing single use plastic over the last 7 years. It goes without saying that our success is just the sum total of your efforts, so this is your award too, you brilliant lot.

So......that's the good news.....

But plastic as a single-use item is something we obviously need to do more on. It's easy to feel overwhelmed by the size of some of the problems we encounter today and it's sometimes just easier to ignore them isn't it? That probably comes from a place of feeling like you have to care about everything all the time, which is impossible. We just don't have the capacity as limited human beings to be caring at an extreme level about everything.

These days we find it's much healthier to focus on the things you can do, which are meaningful to you and when you've identified those things, do your very best with them.

So, at Day Zero there has been a steady drop which overall is quite a big one in the number of customers refilling tubs, jars and bottles. We have some incredibly supportive customers who come in on a regular basis and have been doing for such a long time now, but we also have had plenty of people drift away and it's you we'd like to have back.

YOU can make a difference locally and you can be a part of a community that is actually doing something to take action on single use plastic. At the same time, you'll be supporting a local business, the people we employ, the businesses that supply us, the people who work at those businesses, their families, the campaign groups working to change policy, farmers who are adopting better practices......the list goes on and on, but every one of them are part of a great big team who really care. You may feel like your actions are small, but you're part of a great big team and YOU REALLY MATTER.

So, to arms, Buxton! Pack up your bottles and refill with us. Bring your jars and get yourself into (or back into) refilling on a regular basis.

We really want to keep on doing this for years and years, but we really do need you all to keep supporting what we do. Making a little change to your routine and popping in every week or couple of weeks will have benefits way beyond your own household. I'm struggling to find the right words here to convey how much we care and how much we appreciate you.

Thank you all, tell your friends, and we really hope to see you soon
