I've never witnessed a tornado but I've seen the damage left by them plenty of times since I live in central Illinois. We had tornado warnings here on Saturday which sent me and the pup scurrying into the basement two times within an hour. Our power was out for only four hours thankfully, but the winds wreaked havoc all over our neighborhood. We were pretty lucky; there were only a handful of bigger limbs that came down. Across the street, someone's fence blew down. On the next block, mature trees were snapped in half. Chainsaws have been humming for four days now as truck after truck drives by with beds loaded with tree parts. Yesterday it finally stopped raining so I got out the big clippers and went to work on the limbs I could cut. Now my arms look like I was held hostage in a thorn bush. A small inconvenience compared to what some of my neighbors are dealing with, but they hurt!

We're on Week #4 of the Small Town Romance Summer Reading Road Trip on Instagram. I can hardly believe our coast-to-coast reading adventure is coming to a close.
Yesterday we stopped in Haven Hills, NC for a visit in Kimberly Krey's novel, Springtime Love at the Homestead Inn. On Friday, we'll be heading north to New York where author Susan Warner will welcome us to the Turtle Dove Inn.
Even though Friday marks the last book feature, the giveaways are open for two more weeks. Simply look for me on Instagram @dmalonebooks and you'll see all of the pink map graphics like the ones above. Each book has its own post. You'll find directions about how to enter one of ten giveaways, including the Grand Prize with goodies valued at more than $200.
