My author bio states that I love to explore places "off the beaten path" when my family travels. We've discovered the most amazing places this way: a coffee shop with walls covered in dog photos sent in my visiting patrons; an old cemetery on a country road; an old church-turned-art gallery, to name a few.
We took a trip to see our son in Texas a few years ago by way of Pocahontas, Arkansas. The route we mapped got us off the interstate for a few hours because we love to see what the small towns have to offer. When we came across a park in the town's center, we stopped to stretch our legs and let the dog get some exercise. That's when I discovered this charming display of locks of all shapes and sizes linked to the fence along the Black River. There were literally hundreds of locks with engraved names and initials of people who decided to commemorate their relationship by adding a lock to the chainlink fence. I knew this had to make it into one of my romances one day, and LOCKED ON LOVE'S LANDING is that book.

Now that writing Love's Landing is behind me, I'm back to working on a Port Chance novella. Hopefully that should be ready sometime in April. I'll share the link for it here as a special treat for subscribers. If you remember Adelia Goodwin, Jumpin' John's daughter from the first book, THAT WOMAN ON THISTLEDOWN LANE, this will be her love story. It'll also give you a little insight into the Goodwin family dynamic and a sneak peak at another character who gets his own book in Port Chance #5.
This is one of those times when I'm jumping back and forth between projects. In addition to the novella, I'm also plotting CHRISTMAS IN PORT CHANCE for release later this year. Busy, busy!

It's starting to snow here this morning. The forecast originally called for more than six inches but we're supposed to get less now. Regardless, I had to cancel an appointment today, so I'll be writing most of the day, brewing some tea, and taking breaks to read and let the dog out to romp in the snow.
