I love to keep my newsletters light and fun. I write romance after all, the happily ever after genre. But I've struggled putting them together this last month because of a personal crisis at the forefront of my mind.
My hubby got a scary diagnosis shortly after our January cruise. His doctor scheduled surgery after the scans came back and it's been a waiting game until March 31st. Surgery is this coming Tuesday at the University of Iowa. He's in good hands with his medical team, and we're hopeful the surgery will be successful though he'll have weeks, possibly longer, of recovery.
Amidst the worry, there have been blessings in abundance. The absolute outpouring of well wishes from friends, his students, colleagues, and church family has kept up his spirits. We've had plenty of time for walks in the woods since he took medical leave for the rest of the semester. He's almost finished reading the Bible which he started in February. Life's crazy pace has slowed down enough that we're enjoying more simple pleasures lately like watching the grand girls play in the sandbox and eating outside on the deck. Those are things we’ve always enjoyed, but now they come with an added layer of appreciation.
