Hello Dear Readers:
I wish I could share the sound of chirping with you that I'm hearing at the moment. It's coming from the bag of winter salt sitting on my back porch while I type this not ten feet away. A wren family decided to call the bag of Knox Ice Melter home a few weeks ago. I noticed a trail of white pine needles leading from the door that never closes to the bag. Sure enough, they'd built a nest in there and have been sitting on eggs. A few days ago I heard the babies for the first time. Now mom and dad keep a steady routine of showing up with a knot of insects in their beaks, taking turns feeding. It's my favorite sign of Spring so far this year.
Less than three weeks and counting until LOVE, LIES and LULLABIES hits the shelves! In the meantime, I have a little snippet for you, one which gives a little insight into Wynne Terry, our heroine. In this scene, she's packing for her fifteen-year class reunion. Her mother, Janice, is a sweet distraction:
Wynne couldn’t deny that seeing Chase Ford again after so long was one reason why she had so much trouble choosing a dress. Wynne gave a slight shake of her head, disappointed in herself. Chase’s heart belonged to Ava, it had ever since high school. Her interest in Chase was more curiosity than anything. They had been best friends after all. Before Ava stepped between them.
“He always had a thing for you," her mother said. "Even after he got mixed up with Ava, I could tell he kept his eyes on you.”
This was a reoccurring conversation between them. Her mother insisted Wynne was Chase’s one true love while Wynne reminded her that he’d married Ava and was the father of their child.
“Funny, I thought he only had eyes for his wife.” She looked askance at her mother who sat perched on the bed. Next to her, Archie rolled onto his back to solicit a belly rub. Her mother's Corgi mix was such an opportunist.
Janice dismissed the reminder with a wave of her hand. “It’s not real.”
That made Wynne laugh. “Just because you say it, doesn’t make it so.”
“If it were real, why did they wait almost seven years after graduation to get married?” She pointed a finger at Wynne and squinted. “He was waiting for you to come back.”
Wynne makes some unexpected discoveries on her trip back to her hometown. Find out what she uncovers and the secrets Chase and his family have closely guarded since Wynne left Hendricks. An extravagant wedding to plan. A blossoming childhood crush. And a secret ready to uproot everything
"As usual, Rachael Bloome brings us into Poppy Creek and we do not want to leave." - Amazon reviewer
On a personal note, Rachael's books have what every romance should include: an uplifting, inspirational storyline with a little bit of the zaniness indicative of a sweet, small-town series. And of course, you'll find the perfect HEA. I think you'll fall in love with Poppy Creek if this is your first visit there.
