Last week my husband and I, along with our daughter and her family, rented a house in Door County, Wisconsin for a four-day getaway before the 4th. One of our sons was able to join us for part of the time, too. It was perfect weather except for the second-to-last last day⏤sunny and low 70's as a high, which is perfect in my book. Even the cold, rainy day wasn't so bad in light of the fact that my kitchen is still not functioning. It was nice to cook/bake on a stove again after two months without one.
Traveling with the three grand girls puts a fun, if unpredictable, spin on things. We picked cherries, visited a petting farm, hiked, and spent a couple of days at the beach. A short, but much-needed trip left us energized enough to make it back home in time for the Fourth of July activities in town.

This week I'm reading The Stars are Fire by Anita Shreve for my library's book group. I'm struggling a little with her writing style, but I'm only a couple chapters in so I may end up enjoying it. We'll see! I'm anxiously awaiting a trip to the bookstore to pick up The RomCommers by Katherine Center, my fav!
