Order cakes. Wrap gifts. Coffee beans. Clean Amelia's cage.
That's a snippet from my to-do list for Thursday. We're getting ready for another road trip, this time to celebrate two birthdays for my mother-in-law and son, who share a birthday on Memorial Day. After a stop in western Illinois, we'll head to Wyoming again for a week. I'm anxious to get out of town for a short break. I'll still be writing on the long stretches of interstate in Iowa and Nebraska. I can get a lot of words written during fourteen hours in a car.
In the meantime, today is the last day of school⏤yay! And our youngest son is home this week from Austin, Texas. He came back since his college invited his 2020 graduating class to return to campus for a special convocation. In caps and gowns, they were able to walk across the stage. It was just the closure he needed. The chance to visit once more with his friends and professors was invaluable since their senior year was cut short.
June (and the official start of summer!) is just around the corner. I hope you'll be able to enjoy some sunshine this weekend and a great book or two.
