EVs and flying cars have always been one of those vehicle technologies that continuously seemed so far away from becoming a reality. Now put the two together, and you have an almost unthinkable piece of innovation. One such vehicle is the AIR ONE, which has recently been conducting autonomous flights in Beersheba, Israel. The full-electric flying vehicle was built by Israeli start-up, AIR.

The AIR ONE Is purposed with flying commuters over areas congested with heavy traffic. The vehicle is targeted at private users, unlike most other full-electric flying vehicle projects which are reserved for commercial use. According to AIR, the AIR ONE can be charged to full capacity from empty in one hour, has a range of 177 km, has 771 hp, and a max speed of 250 km/h.

The company says that the AIR ONE will carry two people – an operator and a passenger and hopes the vehicle will be on sale by the end of 2024 at a starting price of $150 000 (R2 819 280). The company initially planned to conduct their first manned flight in the first quarter of 2023, but that has since been pushed to the first quarter of 2024.
