Hi Friends,
“Anyone who isn't embarrassed of who they were last year probably isn't learning enough.” Alain de Botton
As Christmas approaches, I considered all the amazing ups and downs of 2020 and wanted to highlight a few things that I would say were my go-to favorites of 2020.
This list below reminds me that I've grown. As covid has changed the way we live, I suspect many things are being re-invented right now in your life, as well. And why not! No better time than right now :)
A list of favorites from 2020:
- My favorite headphones: Sony MX3 (the MX4's came out this year, too!)
- My favorite websites: Land-Book.com & GoodBooks.io
- My favorite Typeface: Practice by Francis Rappo
- My favorite app: Notion (in the app for about an hour a day consistently)
- My favorite background music: Andrew Foy covers
- My favorite in-home tech: Thank you, Alexa
- My favorite background YouTube video: Train-driver through Norway
- My new favorite source of motivation: Benjamin Hardy
- My favorite cars this year: BMW X4M Competition OR Porsche Taycan
- My favorite car one-off! BMW x KITH
- My favorite journal company (from Malaysia): Ana tomy (sustainable & personalized)
Books:
- My favorite personal development book: Codependent No More
- My favorite overall business book: Range: Why Generalists Triumph in a Specialized World
- My favorite overall discovery: Play the Study Game for Better Grades (this book is out of print but wow, what an amazing read for learning)
- A few others worth mentioning: The courage to be disliked, Make Time - Jake Knapp & John Zeratsky, & Modern Man in Search of a Soul by Jung.
For now, that is all friends. I may be taking next week off as a final week of the year & and as I move homes, but for now... cheers! Merry Christmas with you and your loved ones.
My favorite finds this week
- Video: 20 Life Lessons I Learned in 2020 by Ali | I should add him above as my favorite YouTuber, BUT this video is a great few minutes of insight and clever ways of thinking. What he mentioned around 6:16 about hobbies.
All in,
David
