Hi ,
If you're trying to build a career in AWS, cloud, data or AI, collecting certifications alone may not be enough.
In the latest episode of Off The Backlog, I sat down with Tanaya Badve, Solutions Engineer at AWS, to talk about what actually matters when building a career in cloud.
We discuss:
• Are AWS certifications actually worth it?
• What really helps you get hired in cloud roles
• Tanaya's journey from India to Ireland and into AWS
• What a Solutions Engineer at AWS actually does
• Why real-world projects and networking matter
• AI hype vs what actually works inside businesses
• Why enterprise systems are much harder than the demo
• The skills students should focus on in 2026
One point from our conversation really stood out:
"Certifications can take you to the door. But getting inside comes from your projects, your network and your understanding of systems."
If you're preparing for an AWS role, considering a cloud career, or planning your next move in tech, this episode is worth watching.
