DashNette smashes together my first and middle names, Dasha + Ninette. Of the pet names my mother has invented --there are many-- DashNette is cutest. Sweet, deliciously corny and, consequently, a favorite charm I get to wear about myself. As an Amazonian kid, now woman, "cute" was a tag assigned to other girls. Petite girls. Trendy girls. Girls with fewer words, quieter ideas, less compelled to unwind their full selves.
