The Day Of Mothers

As I'm sure all the other marketers have told you, Mother's Day is this month. What they probably haven't told you is that Mother's Day became an official holiday in 1914 when president Woodrow Wilson signed the bill to make the second Sunday in May "dedicated to the best mother in the world, your mother." Of course, we don't need a official day to honor our mothers (that should be every day), but it's good to have the excuse to take her out to dinner and get her something nice.

Like these designs only available in May, for example:

You can add charms to the bottom centerpiece to personalize it further, and the heart and cameo are also available as U-pins.

These are indeed quite elegant, but I've always wondered why typical Mother's Day designs tend to center around flowers and hearts, like Valentine's Day. Nothing wrong with these things, but not all women are into that sort of thing. My mother, for example, isn't one for wearing jewelry, so that wouldn't be the kind of gift she would get much enjoyment from. What about mothers who are, say, into hiking and biking, or gardening, or monster trucks, or cosplay? I always say, let the gift reflect the recipient. (Actually, I just made that up.)

I also realize that this holiday isn't so happy for some. Many no longer have their mothers with them, or have a strained relationship with them, or are struggling to become mothers themselves. For what it's worth, coming from me, I wish you peace and comfort, whatever your situation is.

Lastly, an FIY after showing you the DIY - this month's orders of $50+ let you choose a mini Flexi clip for only $2. Everyone can use a mini, so it's a great gift size, hint hint! Check it all out here.

Have a great day, and enjoy your family no matter what day it is.
