In my family, we talk about how August feels like summer's last hurrah, the final inferno, one last push to crank up the heat even more and bake us into the concrete before 'Fall' supposedly arrives. Considering how insanely hot it's already been (anyone else in the triple digits?), we're a bit worried. I'm hoping for a freezing winter at this rate - I feel I've been putting my life in my hands just walking to the mailbox. Two things have helped: using an umbrella as a parasol to at least avoid direct sunlight, and keeping my hair up. Having sweaty hair plastered to my neck is the last thing I need, besides heatstroke of course.
