Last Call for the March SAT Bootcamp!

The SAT Bootcamp starts tomorrow.

No matter when you plan to take your test, our bootcamp will teach you the tricks and tips to conquer the SAT.

But even if you can’t join us live this month, I’ll still be helping you prepare.

Every week, I'll be picking out one of my best SAT tips from the bootcamp and sending it here. Want a sneak peek? Here's our first, major tip: Desmos regression.

What is Desmos regression, you may ask? It's a way for Desmos to automatically calculate the parameters of a function for you.

To keep it brief, we'll just cover one example:

This function is understandably complex, but since we're given two points, we can enter them in a table by simply typing "table". Then, instead of using x's and y's, we use the x1 and y1 that the table gives us to construct a new equation, which we'll call the regression equation (as seen in equation slot #2):

Note that the regression equations uses the tilde (~), which tells Desmos to calculate things for us. And finally, we can plug those a, b, and c back into our original p(x), and simply ask Desmos to find the value of p(-12) + p(-5) for us. So much faster than calculating by hand...

I hope you'll join us for the bootcamp for more tips and tricks like this! But if not, stay posted for some new tips each week.

Talk soon,

Dan
