Hello dear reader! :)
Happy Pride Month!
I hope you have a rainbow of loved ones in your life who know they are always safe, loved, celebrated, and supported.
I promise I've been busy writing my next Trinket Bay book, but I also took some time out to copyedit for a dear author friend who has written a fabulous series. The first two books, parts 1 and 2, come out early next year. If you love urban fantasy / paranormal romance, especially when they feature vampires, I think you'll love Carolyn Wren's books. If you love romantic suspense, she also has a fabulous series called Love Under Fire, which is about secret agents.
And no, you can't have Simon!
And speaking of vampire stories, who else is keen to see Passionflix's adaptation of JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series?
I've loved watching the author react to meeting the actors who are bringing her characters to life. I imagine it's such a surreal and incredible moment for her and I wish the show every success.
Can you imagine what it must be like to experience that moment? Is there a book you wish they'd bring to life on the big screen?
Another of my author friends will release a werewolf story with a twist. If you're an Alice in Wonderland fan and love mash ups, this book by Helen Walton is available for preorder now.
I'm also super excited for my author bestie, Louisa West. The first book in her new Sleepy Hollow Mystery series, Ghost Appeal, (prequel) is a finalist in the 2025 Daphne du Maurier Award. (The Kiss of Death contest.) I'm crossing all my fingers and toes for her. Check out her book to see how fabulous it is for yourself. :)
It's an incredible award. I was lucky enough to be a finalist in the same contest in 2022 with An Ear to the Ground, the second book in my Trinket Bay K9 Mystery series. Check out my beautiful finalist pin.
Something else I did this month was to learn about my 'strengths' through the Clifton Strength tests. You may recall I joke about being the mother hen for the aspiring members in my role as the Aspiring Authors Ambassador for Romance Writers of Australia. Turns out there's a reason for it. My number one strength is a Developer. I thought for sure my top strength would be Empathy, (It was #5) but there you go.
A Developer sees the strengths and potential in others and encourages them to grow and that is so 'me'. I’m happiest when I’m cheering on others, and the RWA Aspiring Author group kindly let me mother hen them, which means supporting them as they work toward their dreams. Everyone can be thankful my support doesn't come with a cheerleader outfit.
What about you? Have you done your Clifton Strengths test? Was it true for you? Do you have the same #1 strength as me?
Join My Reader Group If you haven't already, I invite you to join my reader group. It's a wonderful community where we discuss books, share exclusive content, and can learn more about each other. Your insights and feedback are invaluable to me, and I'd love to have you be a part of it.
