While we're unable to physically gather for live performances, we've taken advantage of our time off by putting together this teaser video of some brand new music. "The Lightbulb" is an experimental jazz composition by Danjo's bandleader, Andrew. This tune is the first selection of an upcoming recording project of all original tunes, which we're planning to form into a concept album later next year. As always, Danjo is committed to bringing you live big band music featuring both the classics and new arrangements. This month showcases a new arrangement by Andrew: Paul McCartney's "Maybe I'm Amazed.” Ian Crouse will be joining us on vocals to premiere a couple new additions to the book as well. Danjo Jazz Orchestra returns to Jilly's Music Room in Akron for our last show in 2019 at this venue! This is not one you're going to want to miss! Featuring AVA PRESTON on vocals. A three-time winner of the National Downbeat Magazine Student Music Awards, Ava Preston is a 14 year-old vocalist and composer from Cleveland, Ohio. Already a regular headline at All About Jazz's #1 Jazz club in the country (Bop Stop at the Music Settlement), Ava has performed her original music throughout Ohio, New York, Maryland, and several other states. Her mentors include pianist Theron Brown, trumpeter Dominick Farinacci, and several other iconic artists in the area. We'll be premiering two new arrangements of Ava's original compositions, along with a new composition from Andrew. Other special guests will be joining us as well.
