Yo, Mama!

Hello ,
Whether you have a child of your womb, a step-child, a chosen child, a spiritual child, a niece, nephew or nibling, a fur baby or any other younger-than-you mammal who looks up to you for advice and finds love in your answers and eyes -
H A P P Y M O T H E R' S D A Y !
If, like mine, your (perhaps now adult) child has not jumped on your bed with flowers, or made the compulsory phone call, or even sent an email with animated clip art of flowers ... have a look at this lovely collection of perfect, bite-sized celebrations of moms, mums, mas, mothers and other caring figures.
Flowers For You
One hundred perfect words. A thousand heartfelt emotions.
Fifty-one romance authors (including me!) have contributed 100-word stories that celebrate the many different ways our carers showed their love, from the everyday acts of kindness to the sacrifices they made for us. Many stories will touch your heart and cause a sniffle.
My story, From Garden to Garbage: A Mother's Tale will make you laugh—unless, like my mom, you've experienced the same lack of gratitude from the mouths you fed or feed.
Pancake breakfast, Lily Valley style
For decades (literally) our volunteer fire department has organized and hosted a Mother's Day pancake breakfast at the firehall. When I was a member, I spent my Mother's Days on the grill, scrambling eggs. The other mom-volunteer firefighters were also conscripted to play an organizing role in the celebration.
Seems ... wrong, right!?
Since retiring from the department, the younger, more kick-ass female members seem to have put their five-pound-booted feet down and now the whole event is led by the guys. It's a fun community gathering and today, we have perfect weather to hang out with our neighbours and eat a not heart-healthy breakfast!
No matter how you spend the day, whether you identify as a mom or not, I hope you have a chance to stop and smell some flowers—lilac bushes are in bloom in BC and they are my absolute favourite wild flower so I'll be stopping many times on our walk down to the firehall.
love & scented stuff,
Danika

PS - If you have a mom and need a quick and thoughtful gift to let her know you appreciate her ... Flowers for You is a perfect way to say, Love you, Mom.
